a little story
A portrait of youth caught somewhere between fascination and self destruction. The graphic takes its visual language from TIME magazine and Christiane F., referencing the 1981 film and its raw portrayal of teenage life, addiction and the search for escape. The familiar magazine cover becomes a darker version of that world, where sex, nicotine, drugs, parties and boredom exist side by side.
“Cool Kids Never Have The Time” directly references The SmashingPumpkins’ 1979, taking its almost carefree line and placing it against a much darker image. Something that once felt playful suddenly feels unsettling. The cool kids still do not have the time, but now there is a reason why.
“You Get Me Closer to Die” reworks Nine Inch Nails’ “You Get Me Closer toGod”, replacing salvation with its opposite. It turns the original phrase into something darker, closer to the feeling of losing yourself rather than finding something. The closer you get to the feeling, the closer you get to the edge.Printed oversized across the pocket, the graphic brings all these references together into one portrait of adolescence: seductive, chaotic, reckless and painfully real
